With the Christmas holiday season fast approaching, miracles are bound to be whirling in the Hollywood air. This December 16 will see the release of Collateral Beauty, a drama film directed by David Frankel from the Devil Wears Prada fame.
Warner Bros. has just dropped the new trailer for the movie, the plot of which revolves around Howard Inlet (played by Will Smith) who is struggling to cope with the death of his daughter. Howard writes letters to Death (played by Helen Mirren), Time (played by Jacob Latimore) and Love (played by Keira Knightley). And, the universe replies with each of them personally coming to meet him.
Is it just me or does this story sort of sounds like a reworked plot to A Christmas Carol with the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future?
Are they real or is he going crazy? Based on the trailers, I’m speculating it’s an elaborate plan cooked up by Howard’s friends Claire Wilson (played by Kate Winslet), Simon Scott (played by Michael Pena) and Whit Yardsham (played by Edward Norton) to bring Howard back to living his life, maybe with a little help from Madeleine (played by Naomie Harris) who seems to be a counselor of a support group. But that’s all just a theory.
Whatever the case may be, it seems like a good movie for the holidays, and the star cast makes it worth a watch. Check out the new trailer here:
